Responsibilities

The City of Winchester Police Department is comprised of 37 sworn police officers that cover the residential and commercial areas around our City, including major interstate and state highways. 

In addition to the sworn officers, the department consists of 9-1-1 Communications Officers, Parking/Code Enforcement Officers, and school crossing guards. 

The department also has an Administrative Assistant who assists the public with incident and accident reports.

Mission Statement

We, the members of the Winchester Police Department, in partnership with all members of our community, strive for excellence in professional law enforcement service. Our goal is to protect life and property and to instill a feeling of safety in all our citizens. The Officers of the Winchester Police Department will accomplish this mission through a higher level of crime prevention, investigation, and apprehension in accordance with the laws of the City of Winchester and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
